MR2 Blog - Intercooler trial and tribulations

I first purchased this aftermarket (XS-Power) intercooler back in 2006. Was a good price when they came out, just £200, compared to the other options which basically consisted of a Greddy at circa £600, and some expensive chargecooler options.
The XS-Power intercooler is a copy of the Greddy, but it is slightly flawed when it comes to the intercooler pipes supplied. Well, not the pipes as such, more the clips, they blow off for a past time! They are crappy Mikalor copies, and the wrong size at that. So, after having the hose pop off twice on the M25, I bit the bullet and spent £50 on some proper Mikalor hose clips. I also at that time fitted the shroud and fan.

MR2 Blog - History of my MR2

It's a 1990 Rev1 Turbo, with a chassis number in the low 20000's. It was imported in 2003, and like most cars from Japan, it has zero rust, which is pretty good going for a 19 year old car! I've no idea of it's history in Japan, but it's got some history from the first UK owner (I'm the second).
The chap who owned it before me bought it with the intention to do drifting... not the best idea in a mid-engined rear wheel drive car, but never the less, he proceeded to fit a 2-way Kaaz LSD with an uprated clutch, and a lightweight Fidanza flywheel. He kept it for a few years, before selling it to me in 2006, when I paid £2500 for it.
