The V500 is a Lithium-ion battery suitable for starting a range of four, six and eight cylinder engines. At 2.3kg the V500 is an extremely light battery and is likely to save around 12kg over the equivalent racing lead acid battery. The battery is supplied with a laptop style mains charger to allow you to fully charge the battery before a meeting or test day.

This battery has undergone a thorough testing program since the first development models were built. The first stage of testing was laboratory based, where the battery was fully discharged at an extremely high rate to check it's performance. The second stage of testing was some real world testing on a road car. We tested it on a BMW 535d for a six week period. The 535d has a high compression six cylinder diesel engine so it was deemed an appropriate vehicle for the test. The final test was to put the battery on what we thought would be a challenging engine to start. We selected a high compression small block Ford V8 fitted in a historic race car. Despite 4.7 litres, over 400bhp and period valve gear the battery started the car again and again. We even turned the ignition off to allow the engine to be cranked over for a few more seconds. All of these tested have been passed with flying colours and it's as a result of these tests that the design of the battery has been approved and offered for sale.
